A new series from the mind of Sam Levinson, Euphoria follows a group of teenage students as they try to come to terms with drugs, friendship, identity and trauma. Praised for its dark, gritty themes, the show has quickly become a hit with audiences and critics alike.
The first season of Euphoria was filmed mainly in Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County, California. Many of the locations were used throughout the season to provide a unique ambiance and visual flair that made the show stand out from other teen dramas on television.
Several of the main filming locations for Euphoria were reused in the second season. For example, the Ulysses S. Grant High school in Valley Glen, which plays a major role in the show, was used for the fictional East Highland High school. Other locations that were used for season 2 included a shopping mall in Torrance and Bowlium Lanes in Montclair.
In North Hills, the Travel Inn was filmed to represent the motel room where Jules chats with a "DominantDaddy" in Episode 1. The Alta Dena Dairy in Temple City stood in for Fezco and Ashtray's drug-dealing business, while Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance was used as the mall where Nate stalked Tyler in Episode 2.
There is no official word on where this fictional town of Euphoria is located, but the aerial view that the show provides shows a sprawling suburban neighbourhood in what is clearly LA county. This is the same region that has been populated with a diverse group of teenagers dealing with all the usual teenage problems.
Another location in the fictional town is the 7/11-style store that Fez runs, and this one was filmed at the Alta Dena Dairy store located on 9201 E. Tunas Drive in Temple City, CA.
This is the same location that the filming crew used to film some of the scenes where the characters talk about drugs in their local malls, and this location was also used for a flashback scene set in the 90s. It was a great location to shoot a number of scenes because it was so close to a large population of people, and the filming crew also had access to a lot of food and drinks for free!
If you're planning to visit the area, there are many public transportation options available. There are numerous bus routes that pass through the area, and the local 78 bus runs along East Las Tunas Drive between Loma and Encinitas Avenue.
The town's high school is a high-profile location in the show, so it's easy to see why it was chosen. However, the school that's used in the show is actually Ulysses S. Grant High School in Valley Glen, CA, which is a public high school and a popular filming location for many other shows and movies.
In addition to these important locations, the show has also utilized various other locations around the country. These include Favorite Liquor in Burbank, Odd Ball Cabaret in North Hills, Bowlium Lanes in Montclair, and Frank's Coffee Shop in Burbank, which is a diner where Rue's sponsor Ali met up during the 2020 Euphoria special "Trouble Don't Last Always."
