Toshiba Satellite C55-B5240X Review

Toshiba is a Japanese technology conglomerate, producing power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators, escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard drives, printers and batteries. The company is also well known for its laptop computers. The Toshiba Satellite C55-B5240X is an example of a modestly priced, but attractively styled notebook computer.

The Toshiba offers a 15.6 inch diagonal HD TruBrite widescreen display with standard 1366 by 768 pixel resolution. This is the same screen size as most laptops in this price range and should be adequate for most digital arts applications including gaming. The system comes with a fairly streamlined Windows 8 experience and not a lot of bloatware that can slow down your performance. The system can be purchased with either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. All systems sold with Windows 8.1 will receive a free upgrade to Windows 10 within one year of release.

This model uses a fast Dual-Core Intel Celeron N2840 CPU and has 4 GB of memory. This is enough memory for most moderate users. However it isn't enough for the most demanding gamers or even to run new games at high graphics settings. This is why we advise you to select a notebook with more memory.

The hard drive is a standard 500 GB SATA drive running at a speed of 5400 rpm. This isn't the fastest hard drive on the market but it should be adequate for storing family videos and pictures. This Toshiba has all the essential ports that you'll need for connecting to printers, projectors, external hard drives and other peripherals. It also has a DVD drive.
