Toshiba Portege Z935 P300 Review

Toshiba's Portege Z935 is a great choice for business people looking for an ultrabook with good performance and excellent battery life. It's also one of the lightest 13-inch laptops we've ever tested, and it has a decent selection of ports that will help you connect to business projectors in conference rooms.

In our LAPTOP Battery Test (surfing over Wi-Fi at 40 percent brightness), the Portege Z935 lasted 6 hours and 35 minutes. That's about an hour longer than the average for a 13-inch notebook, and it beat out the ZenBook Prime UX31A (6:13) and the HP Envy Spectre XT (6:17).

The Portege Z935 is just 0.63 inches thick at its thinnest point and weighs 2.47 pounds sans accessories. That makes it much thinner and lighter than the 18mm spec for an ultrabook, but it's not quite as thin as the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch ($1199 list, 4.5 stars), which is about 0.68 inches at its thickest and weighs 2.5 pounds sans accessories.

The Portege Z935 ships with a number of utilities, including Toshiba ReelTime, which presents you with a horizontal bar filled with your most recently opened files; face recognition software that scans your mug and lets you log in with a fingerprint; and eco Utility, which changes your system sleep settings and display backlight to conserve power. The system also comes with a standard one-year parts-and-labor warranty.
