Toshiba C55 B5319 Review

If you’re looking for a light duty budget notebook with decent performance levels this Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5319 is worth checking out. It uses an entry level AMD E1-2100 processor with modest performance which is fine for simple daily office and multimedia tasks like web browsing, video watching, song listening and light gaming. It has enough RAM for multitasking and a spacious hard drive for your multimedia files. It comes with Windows 8 which may be a bit difficult to get used to at first but should be fine after a short period of use and is surprisingly lightweight.

The 15.6 inch display is made by Samsung and offers a good maximum brightness of 251 cd/m2 but the contrast is rather unimpressive and the panel has a very noticeable blue hue. The integrated touchpad works well but its rough surface doesn’t allow fingers to glide that easily. The buttons underneath the pad also seem a little spongy and the keyboard has shallow key travel.

Overall the notebook scores pretty well in our benchmark tests, but its conventional hard drive doesn’t always make things run as smoothly as they should. Especially the opening of applications and system starts are somewhat slow. Ultimately the C55D-C-1NE is still an excellent choice for those who want an affordable notebook and don’t mind its somewhat bland design.
