There are many different graphics cards on the market, but two of the most popular ones for gaming at this time are the rtx 4070 vs rx 6800 xt. Both of these cards are capable of 4K resolution gaming and offer high performance at a reasonable price point. Both have 16GB of memory which is enough for most games, but the RTX 4070 Ti has GDDR 6 which offers higher bandwidth than the older GDDR 5.
The RTX 4070 Ti also features Nvidia’s latest architecture which is called Ada Lovelace and provides 3rd generation ray tracing cores and 4th generation Tensor cores that offer better efficiency than their predecessors. The RX 6800 XT meanwhile uses the older RDNA 2 architecture which is one generation behind Lovelace.
In benchmark tests the RTX 4070 Ti performs better than the RX 6800 XT by delivering a higher average FPS in most titles. It is also more power efficient as it consumes 7.1% less wattage than the RX 6800 XT during testing. This translates to lower temperatures which is important for reliable and stable gameplay.
Let’s take a look at some of the more demanding titles that have ray tracing available and see how they perform on the two cards. For example, the RTX 4070 Ti achieves a decent 141 fps in Hitman, but it doesn’t quite match the native performance of the game. However, when ray tracing is disabled and the game uses rasterization the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti improves to 166 fps.
