Startech Thunderbolt 4 Dock Review

The startech thunderbolt 4 dock is a well-equipped hub that's designed to add a lot of versatility to your laptop setup. It's capable of powering your computer, charging its battery and connecting to dual 4K monitors all at once. And with the addition of a few USB-A ports, it's well-equipped for most any type of PC peripheral you might need to connect to your MacBook.

There's also a Gigabit Ethernet port for wired Internet connections and plenty of space to plug in any USB-A device that needs to be charged. And since it supports 96W of Power Delivery, the dock should be able to charge your laptop even while you're working on demanding applications like video editing.

It can also support a single 4K monitor at 60Hz on your MacBook Pro or Windows laptop with a TB3 Intel or TB4 M1 MacBook. That's a significant advantage over most cheaper USB-C docks, which are limited to just a single monitor.

To set up the unit you'll need to attach the 0.8-meter Thunderbolt 4 cable included with it to your Mac or Windows notebook. And once you do, you'll have access to an impressive list of ports. There's a Gigabit Ethernet port to connect to your home network, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports that expand your port count and two standard DisplayPort outputs for displaying content on dual monitors. And if you're worried about security, the unit includes Kensington-style security slots for your hardware.
