In this article we’re going to compare the performance of rx6800m vs rtx 3070 to help you make the best decision on which GPU to purchase for your gaming laptop. This comparison will cover benchmarks, pricing, availability and overall performance.
Both cards are based on the Navi 21 silicon, so they have the same basic architecture. However, the RTX 3070 is much more expensive as it’s Nvidia’s premium offering that includes features like DLSS and ray tracing. As a result, it’s often hard to find RTX 3070 cards in stock and when you do they tend to be priced double what the MSRP is (at least on the second-hand market).
AMD is trying to get around this issue by introducing laptops with their Advantage Design Framework program. These laptops will feature RX 6000M graphics along with Ryzen 5000 mobile processors and AMD software. The laptops are scheduled to start arriving this month.
Despite the high price tag the RTX 3070 still offers compelling performance in most games. In fact, the RTX 3070 beats the RX 6800 in some scenarios due to Nvidia’s more mature DLSS support and ray tracing capabilities. For example, on Dirt 5, the RTX 3070 manages to push 85 fps whereas the RX 6800 only gets 84 fps. However, the difference is smaller in other scenarios. For instance, on 1080p the RTX 3070 is just 7% faster than the RX 6800 and in 1440p it’s only 4% faster.
