Just when you thought HP was ready to quit the PC business, it comes back with this consumer-oriented all-in-one with 3D capabilities. The TouchSmart 620 is pretty much the same reclining all-in-one HP rolled out in February, but with ATI's 3D tech shoehorned in and a funky webcam that captures 3D photos and video.
The 23-inch display supports full HD (1080p) resolution, and when you put on the included active shutter glasses, you can view content in 3D. This includes movies and television shows, but the system also supports gaming in 3D, which is great for fans of MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Runescape, and Guild Wars.
The system is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and comes with 8 GB of RAM and a 1.5TB hard drive. It has an AMD Radeon HD 6670 graphics card, and there's a built-in TV tuner for live streaming.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit is pre-loaded, and the system has a 6-in-1 card reader, 2 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, TV I/O ports, and HP's excellent Magic Canvas touchscreen control software that acts as a tablet-like user interface overtop of Windows 7. Other software includes the usual suite of Microsoft programs (Office 2010 starter, ads for HP's tablet and smartphone products, Beats Audio sound enhancements, and more), Blio online music service, Zya e-book store, and a short 60-day trial subscription to Norton Internet Security.
