How to Disconnect Device From Home Network

Many people across the country use cable internet for their home connection. One of the most popular providers is Xfinity, which offers broadband service to households in 39 states. It also provides TV, phone and mobile services to customers. Xfinity provides a number of internet plans, with prices ranging from $40 to $170 per month. Depending on your location, you may have to pay extra to get a faster connection.

In some cases, Xfinity WiFi connections can become overcrowded, resulting in poor performance and even disconnection. If you are experiencing frequent Xfinity WiFi disconnections, try to restart your router and modem. To do this, first remove all of the power cables from both devices and let them cool down. Then, reconnect the modem and router and wait for them to boot up. Next, connect the modem to a different power source, such as an electric outlet or USB port. Allow it to reboot and then check if the problem persists.

Another possible cause of the issue is that your Xfinity router may have outdated firmware. It is important to keep your firmware updated to ensure that you have the latest features and security updates. You can find the firmware version on your Xfinity router’s website or in your xFi app. Often, updating the firmware will fix connection problems and reduce disconnections.

The xFi app allows you to view a list of devices connected to your Xfinity WiFi network. It can also be used to pause (block) devices from connecting to the Internet. You can select a device in the list and then tap the pause button. The pause function only pauses WiFi access on your home network, and it doesn’t impact access to your cellular data or other available WiFi networks. If a paused device attempts to access the Internet, it will receive a message that the site cannot be reached.

Lastly, you can remove a device from your Xfinity WiFi network by visiting the xFi app and logging in with your Xfinity account. From there, you can access the Devices tab and then select a device. The list will show the device’s MAC address and hostname, as well as its name (if you manually named it) or its default name.

You can also disable a specific device by clicking on the Device Details button and then selecting Forget Device. However, it is important to remember that if you disable a device, it will not be able to connect to your Xfinity WiFi network again.
