How Long Does a Pedicure Take?

Getting a pedicure is a great way to pamper yourself and enjoy having beautifully manicured feet. In addition to looking great, pedicures offer several health benefits, including reducing foot and heel pain caused by calluses, and promoting circulation in the feet. However, it's important to know how long does a pedicure take before you decide to make an appointment.

A pedicure is a cosmetic treatment that involves soaking the feet, then massaging them and treating the nails and cuticles. The technician may also buff the feet and polish them to finish up.

Most pedicures start by soaking your feet in water with added oils or creams to soften the skin and help fight dryness. Some salons and spas also use a special callus softener to remove thick areas of dead skin called corns and calluses. During a pedicure, the nails are also filed and cleaned. This includes removing any old nail product such as polish or varnish with acetone and then cleaning the toenails.

At this point, the technician may scrub the bottom of your feet with a pumice stone to further remove any dead skin. This is usually followed by applying a foot massage with lotions to soothe and relax the feet. A foot mask may also be applied at this time.

The toenails are then trimmed and shaped. Depending on your choice of style, you may get the nails painted with a regular nail polish or gel nail polish. It is important to note that the polish will need at least 12 hours to fully dry. This means you should not go swimming or shower with your new polish on until then.
