How Do I Rename My Roku Device?

The Roku streaming device is growing in popularity among cord-cutters and streaming enthusiasts. It offers a wide variety of entertainment options and user-friendly features. Its ability to connect with other Roku devices on the same home network is another major selling point. However, many Roku TV owners have found that the device’s default name is too generic to distinguish it in their Roku account or the Roku mobile app. Fortunately, there are a few different ways to change your Roku device’s name, including from your computer and the Roku Mobile app.

Using a computer, open the Roku website in a browser and sign into your Roku account if prompted. You should see a list of all your Roku devices at the bottom of the page. Click the Edit button (shaped like a pencil) to the left of a device to change its name. Click “Update” when you are done.

If you have more than one Roku device, you may need to use their serial numbers to tell them apart when renaming them. The same method can be used on a phone or tablet with the Roku mobile app. Regardless of which method you choose, make sure the new name is easy to remember and will not conflict with any other Roku devices in your home. If you are unsure about a new name, refer back to the System info screen on your Roku device to note its serial number and check it on the Roku website before making the change.
