Horton Hears a Who (Movie Review)

Horton Hears a Who

The story starts when an elephant named Horton discovers a small speck of dust floating in the Jungle of Nool. The speck harbors a microscopic city called Whoville and its people. Horton vows to protect the Whos despite ridicule from the other jungle animals who don't believe the tiny people exist.

Jim Carrey does a phenomenal job as the voice of Horton Hears a Who. He brings the character to life and makes him feel stressed out, on edge, and full of joy all at the same time. Carrey also nailed the voice of the narrator which is important in making the audience connect with the story.

Selena Gomez is the voice of Helga, one of Mayor Ned McDodd and Sally O'Malley's 96 daughters. She's sweet and adorable with a touch of sassiness. She's a great addition to the cast of characters and has a great voice.

Jesse McCartney is the voice of JoJo, Ned McDodd's oldest son. He's the only boy amongst the Mayor's children and he never talks because he doesn't want to disappoint his father. He's a resourceful and witty person but he can't express himself verbally.

Vlad is the black-bottomed bird that the Wickershams hand over to Horton after he steals the clover containing Whoville. He's a sly and intelligent person who has no problem manipulating others to his own benefit. He's a great addition to the cast and he adds a nice sense of danger to the film.
