Fuhu Inc, maker of the best-selling nabi tablet and other high-end kids tech products, has just introduced the world's biggest HD tablet made especially for children and families. The Big Tab hd 24 is a massive 20-inch or 23.6-inch tablet with a high-resolution 1,600x900 or 1920x1080 display that delivers console quality gaming and movie experience in a tablet. Featuring nabi OS 3.0 Blue Morpho, the tablet comes loaded with more than 400 kid-focused and parent approved applications and comes with a suite of simple two-player family games like Checkers, Chess, Backgammon, Tic Tac Toe and Hangman.
The tablet also includes nabi Konnect, the first COPPA compliant and parentally approved friend network just for kids that lets parents create one-to-one safe connections between their kids and friends they select themselves. nabi Konnect is easy for kids to use and provides parents with a way to monitor their child's activity. The Big Tab hd 24 is available this Fall with a starting price of $449 for the 20-inch model and $549 for the larger variant.
The tablet is mounted on a standup frame that doubles as a handle and sits on most surfaces. Its Android 4.4 KitKat operating system can be unlocked into Mommy mode to run standard Android apps, but the Big Tab always starts in Kid mode. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, though there is no SD card expansion slot. The Big Tab hd 24 weighs 14 pounds and has a built-in battery that offers only 30 minutes of backup power, so it is primarily designed for plugging into an AC outlet and for use at home.
