EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Black Edition Review

If you're a dedicated gamer who values every tenth of a frame per second, then the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Black Edition is a solid card to consider. It's a high-end graphics card with an excellent cooling solution and a fairly low price tag that offers great value for the money.

The GP104-based Pascal GPU on this cards PCB is identical to the Founders Edition's, so performance should be very similar out-of-the-box. EVGA has added their own ACX 3.0 cooler to the equation which keeps temperatures far lower than reference cards and runs much quieter as well. This is a welcome improvement over the stock cooler and one that many users will probably appreciate.

This card also boasts a slew of ports including three DisplayPorts, an HDMI 2.0b port and a dual-link DVI port. It draws 180W at full load and supports Nvidia's GeForce Experience software, which includes the useful Ansel and Highlights tools.

As for the card itself, it uses a two-slot body with a single 8-pin power connector and has standard GDDR5X memory. It features a CUDA core count of 2432 and boost clocks that are identical to the Founders Edition.

For the time being, Nvidia is restricting AIC vendors from overclocking their own cards above the bare minimum reference specifications. It appears that Nvidia made this decision to avoid sales cannibalization of the superior Radeon RX Vega 56, which has a much higher maximum clock speed than the GTX 1070 Ti.
