Dell Precision M6500 Specs

When you need serious computing power and a 17-inch display, the dell precision m6500 specs is the way to go. This new mobile workstation replaces the older M6400, offering a choice of Intel's top-of-the-line Extreme Core i7-920XM processor and either Nvidia Quadro FX 3800M or ATI FirePro M7740 graphics hardware. The M6500 also boasts Tier 1 certification for AVID digital design, the ability to run 32 tracks of audio simultaneously and the first Windows-based laptop with RGB LED edge-to-edge LCD displays that support Adobe's 100 percent user selectable color gamut.

Like its predecessor, the M6500 offers an industry-first: the option to have up to 32 GB of system memory installed. A brushed-aluminum chassis that passes MIL-810 tests protects the notebook from bumps and knocks while also resisting fingerprint smudges. The backlit keyboard features soft, smooth, regular (read: not Chiclet-style) keys and a full-size number pad. Dell also has included a handy, easily accessible 'Reader 2.1' button, which quickly opens up the e-mail, contacts and calendar entries stored in Outlook even when the computer is shut down or hibernating.

Connectivity options are extensive: four USB ports, a combined eSATA/USB interface, a 6-pin FireWire 1394, an RJ-45 ethernet port and a digital DisplayPort jack. A modular drive slot enables you to add another hard drive or optical drive. You can also choose a variety of different LCD panel options, including the RGB LED edge-to-edge display that Gialusis used in the review unit; it has a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 and is backlit to enhance the colors. For security, the M6500 features a standard or contactless smart card reader, TPM 1.2 and WPA/WPA2/VPN-compatible wireless technology.
