With a brand-new hexa-core processor and a high-performance Nvidia graphics card, the dell g7 15 7588 is an excellent gaming laptop. It’s not the most aggressive design and it doesn’t have a 4K display, but it will handle modern games with ease and won’t become too hot under load. It also has a decent amount of post-purchase upgrade options and ports.
Dell offers three display options for this model. The first is a Full HD display with 300 nits, 144 Hz, and 100% sRGB. The second is a Full HD display that has the same specs except it has a matte finish. Finally, there is a 4K Ultra HD display with 400 nits and a 60 Hz refresh rate.
The 15.6-inch IPS panel on our review unit was decent. It had good color reproduction and a nice anti-glare coating. However, it was only able to cover 62 percent of the sRGB color gamut, which is worse than the mainstream gaming average (107 percent), PowerSpec (107.5 percent), MSI (121.7 percent), and Predator Helios 300 (122.6 percent). The panel was also quite dim at 232 nits, while the average is 298 nits and the PowerSpec is even brighter at 306 nits.
The keyboard was well-built and had comfortable 1.5mm key travel. It also has a nice, smooth feel and features two dedicated keys with special functionality. The t-pad button turns off the touchpad, while the g-shift button increases the GPU’s performance speed.
