The laptop battery is one of the most important components in your Dell computer. It gives you the ability to take your Dell laptop with you anywhere you go without worrying about a power outlet. However, the battery will naturally wear out over time and usage. If you want to get the most out of your Dell laptop battery, there are several things you can do to make sure it lasts longer. Some of these include reducing the brightness, turning off WiFi/Bluetooth, and using the original charger to charge your laptop.
If you’re concerned about your Dell laptop battery, you can use a free program called dell check battery health to see how much life it has left. This utility will generate a report that includes information on your battery’s capacity, cycling, and usage. The report will also show you how your laptop’s battery has compared to its design capacity.
To access the utility, start your laptop and press a designated key during bootup. This key is usually F2, F10, Del, or Esc. Once the BIOS has opened, look for a “Dell Battery” or “Battery Health” option and select it. The report will display in the right pane of the window. The Cycle Count item is especially useful, as it displays the number of times your battery has been charged and discharged. A lower value means that your Dell battery is wearing out. To prevent this, you can try to charge it at least once per week and use the laptop with its battery only when necessary.
