Cooler master hyper 212 evo rebate
The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO was a legend when it first came out back in 2007. It's been around ever since and is still one of the best air coolers you can buy. So we wanted to see how it stands up in a modern system in 2021 and what changes Cooler Master have made over the years.
Unlike the original 212 that had rounded sides the Hyper 212 EVO has flat ones and it looks very different. It's a very sleek and minimalistic design that has a hunk of aluminum as its base with two wing protruding on either side. It is designed to hold the fan but it also acts as a pre-cooler because of its wing configuration. The wing also creates turbulence that forces cool air in and warm out of the heat pipes to help improve cooling performance.
The heatpipes are connected to a large fan that has sleeve bearings and can reach speeds of up to 2000 revolutions per minute. It's a very good fan and it is able to keep the CPU temperature under control during our testing even with heavy load.
However, the Hyper 212 EVO does not have the best thermal conductivity as it only uses 6mm heatpipes and does not have a soldered base. This means that over time the performance will slowly decline as contact between the aluminum fins and the heatpipes will reduce with thermal expansion and contraction. It's a great cooler and it will be a good choice for most systems but there are better options out there.
