The new Cobra cdr895d front and rear camera dash cam simultaneously captures the road ahead and behind in HD video (front:1080p FHD, rear:720P HD). Easily switch between viewing the front or rear view on the included Drive HD Player application. This is a great solution for Uber and Lyft drivers who want to keep track of what goes on in the back of their vehicles. The rear camera can be mounted on the front windshield facing in or use the 20 ft extender cable to mount it on the rear window to record what is happening in the back of the vehicle.
The front camera has an internal G-Sensor that will save and protect clips if it detects an impact and can be manually triggered with the press of a button on the screen. Parking Mode will also activate if motion or an accelerometer movement is detected when the vehicle is parked.
Video quality from the front camera is excellent and what we've come to expect from Cobra with nice clear recordings in most lighting conditions. The quality of the rear camera is a little more dingy but still good enough to see license plate numbers and other distinguishing features.
The Cobra cdr895d is a very good dual-camera system for the price. It's not quite as high-end as the top picks from BlackVue and Viofo but it has better front/rear coverage than most other dual-camera systems we've tested. While missing a few features like built-in GPS the Cobra cdr895d offers an affordable way to add rear and front cameras to any vehicle.
