ASUS ROG Strix B760-I Gaming WiFi Motherboard Review

Set up a budget-friendly gaming PC with this LGA1700 mini-ITX motherboard from ASUS. The ROG Strix B760-I Gaming WiFi features Intel's 12th and 13th Gen processors, plus a variety of connectivity options. 2.5GbE LAN, Intel WiFi 6E AX201, and other standard hardware support this board's gaming-focused intentions. The USB ports are more plentiful than you'd expect for a B series motherboard, too, with six Gen 1 and two Gen 2 ports on this model.

Asus uses a robust VRM design for this model. Its 8+1 power stage is bolstered by an 80A DC-DC conversion phase using Vishay SiC659A MOSFETs in the vertical segment and on-chip buck converters from On Semiconductor, with a signal smoothing stage made of 11 metal-covered chokes and 5K Black Metallic capacitors.

It's this VRM that lets the B760-I Gaming WiFi keep up with the more powerful Z790 boards. While you can't manually overclock the CPU (you need a high-end cooler to do so), the Asus can handle a heavy workload, such as running Civilization VI at 300+ FPS.

Asus has kept the aesthetics simple for this budget-friendly board. The black PCB is accented by a large heatsink with iridescent stickers for the VRM sections and the solid 8-pin EPS connector. This is an ITX board that should fit well in compact builds with a vertically-mounted graphics card, and the wavy grid decals on the front of the PCB add a bit of color to the stealthy layout.
