Acronis True Imagetm Home 2012 Review

Acronis is well known for its reliable and fuss-free backup software. Its latest suite, acronis true imagetm home 2012, is a first of its kind to combine online backup, local backup and file synchronization in one package. It's a great way to protect your digital life and keep it accessible wherever you are, and whenever you want.

Its patented disk imaging technology is still the backbone of this suite, but it now has a range of other useful features that make it stand out. These include nonstop backup that keeps your files updated as you work, incremental and differential backups to save disk space, and universal restore of applications, data and the operating system to dissimilar hardware. It's also now easier to use than ever with a new interface that makes it more intuitive, with clear and easy-to-follow instructions on what to do in different situations.

Another big plus is the ability to synchronize folders on multiple PCs, an Acronis online account or a remote network location. This is similar to free services like Dropbox, but it's much more comprehensive - for example you can use it to mirror your My Documents folder across all of your machines without having to install the software on them. However, you do need to pay for Acronis online storage (currently PS40 a year) and it doesn't work with proxy servers. There's an optional Plus Pack add-on that lets you sync to external drives too.
