Acronis True Image 2015 Reviews

The latest version of the world's most trusted backup software provides a classy new interface that is easy to use for the novice PC user and has all the power tools for the tech-savvy. It can be used to back up entire disk images or just single files and folders. Backups can be stored locally, on the Acronis cloud or both for dual protection.

In addition to a classy new user interface, this edition of Acronis True Image offers many other improvements. The ability to backup a system that can be restored to different hardware is greatly simplified, and the program boasts improved performance, especially when backing up small files. The cornucopia of features that Acronis has implemented over the years is still in place, including email notifications, external program execution before and after backups, compression, splitting and encryption.

One of the most significant changes in this release is a new, more transparent Backup Activity view that shows each backup job (by default sorted by date) with details like total backup size and average transfer speed. A colour-coded indicator also lets you easily see what proportion of a backup is pictures, documents and so on. The program also has a new Security Dashboard that gives you an overview of the most important tasks.

Acronis True Image 2015 is a reliable backup solution for both Windows and Mac that has been redesigned with an emphasis on transparency. Unfortunately, it has lost a few of the more powerful tools that previous versions included such as the Disk Editor, file shredder, Boot Sequence Manager and Extended Capacity Manager. The feeble System Cleaner has inexplicably survived though.
