Acronis True Image 2014 Review

The program allows users to create and restore images of the entire hard disk or individual partitions. It can also be used to back up the operating system, applications, settings, and data files. The software can perform exact and sector-by-sector backups, as well as back up the settings and messages of e-mail clients and selected files and folders.

Unlike other competing software suites, Acronis provides a complete set of tools for backing up and recovering your data. This includes an extensive 'Image' backup which saves every file and setting on your PC, making a full system recovery a relatively simple process. There's also a 'Disk and Partition Backup' option that can be run on demand or automatically as new files are created or modified, while 'File Backup' options capture just the changes since your last archive.

Another new addition is the ability to back up your data directly to Acronis' own cloud storage service. This can be done through a separate dialog, although the feature isn't consistent - you can choose to save your archive locally or to the cloud with a single backup job, but not vice versa.

All the other features that make Acronis a powerful and comprehensive suite remain intact, including the ability to use bootable media to recover from a disaster or to migrate your system to a different hardware platform. You can also synchronize your files across multiple computers, or share them securely with a friend. You can even create a secure 'Secure Zone' partition to store your backups away from prying eyes.
